Online Event | Languages of Art Criticism

To mark the 10th year of the Purita Kalaw-Ledesma (PKL) Prizes in Art Criticism, the Ateneo Art Gallery (AAG) and the Kalaw-Ledesma Foundation, Inc. (KLFI) are pleased to present the online discussion “The Languages of Art Criticism” to take place on 8 February 2024 (Thursday) from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM via Zoom and Facebook live stream.

Deadline of registration is on 7 February 2024, 5:00 PM Manila.

“The Languages of Art Criticism” is the second of the series of talks that delve into the state and relevance of art criticism today. This session will explore the region as a node where artistic and critical practices thrive. It will revisit the ways practitioners engage in the language of art criticism and the languages involved in its production to make it robust, while exploring “languages” as a facility for communication and discourse, a writing style or voice.

This session convenes Alvin Yapan, filmmaker, professor, and Katipunan Journal editor, Abraham Garcia Jr., practicing artist, researcher, and educator based in Davao City, and Gian Carlo Delgado, museum researcher based in Quezon City and recipient of the PKL Prize in 2022. It will be moderated by Allyn Canja, writer, activist, and cultural worker based in Iloilo City.

This talk is open to the public for FREE. To attend, register at: https://go.ateneo.net/Languages2024
