Ateneo Art Awards 2017: Winners of the Purita Kalaw-Ledesma Prizes for Art Criticism

The winners of the Ateneo Art Awards 2017 Purita Kalaw-Ledesma Prizes for Art Criticism were announced last October 1, 2017 at the newly opened Arete building of the Ateneo de Manila University. 

 

As announced previously, these are the shortlisted writers for the 2017 Purita Kalaw-Ledesma Prizes for Art Criticism:

  • Christian Benitez
  • Carlo Pacolor Garcia
  • Arianna Mercado
  • Kenneth Paranada
  • Chanon Kenji Praepipatmongkol
  • Josephine V. Roque

 

 

And the grand winners for this year’s Purita Kalaw-Ledesma Prize for Art Criticism are:

Arianna Mercado, Purita Kalaw-Ledesma Prize- The Philippine Star Award. Her winning work is entitled, “Dalena’s Curtain Call.” 

Josephine V. Roque, Purita Kalaw-Ledesma Prize- ArtAsiaPacific Magazine Award. Her winning work is “Transits of Meaning.”  

The Ateneo Art Awards opened the exhibit of the shortlisted artists and grand winners of the Fernando Zobel Prize, along with the exhibition “Mutable Truths: Perspectives in Philippine Contemporary Art”. Both exhibits will run until December 2, 2017 at the Ateneo Art Gallery, Arete Building.
